Our 6-step process

How fire and smoke restoration actually works.

A fire leaves behind more than char, soot travels, smoke odor sinks into everything, and firefighting water has to be dried out too. Our process handles all of it, in the right order.

Step 01

Emergency response & board-up

We're available 24/7. Our first job is to make the structure safe and secure, board up windows and doors, tarp the roof, and prevent weather, theft, and further loss while the plan comes together.

On-site in 60 minutes · 24/7, including holidays
Step 02

Damage assessment & soot analysis

Not all soot is the same. We identify the type of residue (dry, wet, or protein), map how far the smoke spread, and determine what can be cleaned versus what has to be removed, then document all of it for your claim.

Full inspection · documented for insurance
Step 03

Water removal & structural drying

The water used to put the fire out is a problem of its own. We extract it and dry the structure to IICRC standard, before it turns into a secondary mold problem on top of the fire damage.

Often overlooked · prevents secondary mold
Step 04

Soot & smoke residue removal

Using HEPA vacuuming, dry and wet cleaning, and media or soda blasting on charred framing, we remove soot from every affected surface. The method changes by surface and residue type, no single approach does it all.

Surface-specific cleaning · no shortcuts
Step 05

Odor neutralization

Smoke odor hides in framing, ductwork, and porous materials. We neutralize it at the molecular level with thermal fogging, hydroxyl and ozone treatment, and sealing, we don't mask it with air freshener.

Molecular-level · not air freshener
Step 06

Contents, rebuild & insurance

We pack out and clean salvageable belongings, then rebuild the structure to pre-loss condition, framing, drywall, paint, finishes. We document the full loss and bill your carrier directly. Most homeowners pay only their deductible.

What it costs & how long it takes

Honest numbers. No hidden fees.

Every job is different, but twenty-five years of work means we know the ranges.

What you'll pay

Most homeowners pay only
Their deductible.

When the loss is covered by your policy, we bill your carrier directly, you pay your deductible and nothing more. Fire jobs vary widely, a contained kitchen fire runs $3,000–$25,000+, but that's the carrier's number, not yours.

  • Free on-site inspection, no obligation, never a charge
  • Direct insurance billing, we bill your carrier, not you
  • Written scope of work before any cost is incurred

Timeline you can expect

From phone call to finished
1 – 8 weeks

Soot removal and odor treatment run the first week or two; structural rebuild depends on how much the fire reached. Larger losses run longer. We give you a clear timeline at the inspection.

  • Day 1: Response, board-up, water extraction
  • Weeks 1–2: Soot removal, odor neutralization
  • Weeks 2–8: Contents, then full rebuild

They boarded up the house the same night and walked us through the entire claim. One company from the soot cleanup to the rebuild, we only ever paid our deductible.

Common questions

What Utah homeowners ask about fire damage.

Answers from twenty-five years of jobs across the Wasatch Front.

How much does fire and smoke damage restoration cost?
It varies widely with the size of the fire. A contained kitchen or appliance fire often runs $3,000 to $25,000, while a structural fire can run much higher. We provide free on-site inspections, and most homeowners pay only their deductible when the loss is covered by insurance.
Does homeowners insurance cover fire and smoke damage?
Fire is one of the most consistently covered perils in a standard homeowner policy, both the flame damage and the smoke, soot, and firefighting-water damage that come with it. We document the full loss in your carrier's format and bill them directly.
Can smoke smell really be removed, or just covered up?
Removed. Smoke odor comes from microscopic particles lodged in porous materials, so masking it never lasts. We neutralize it at the molecular level with thermal fogging, hydroxyl and ozone treatment, and sealing of surfaces that can't be fully cleaned.
How long does fire restoration take?
Soot removal and odor treatment usually take the first week or two. Structural rebuild depends on how far the fire reached, anywhere from a few days for a small area to several weeks for major damage. We give you a detailed timeline after the inspection.
Is my home safe to enter after a fire?
Not until it's cleared. Soot and smoke residue are toxic, the structure may be compromised, and firefighting water creates slip and electrical hazards. We secure and assess the property first, and tell you honestly when it's safe to retrieve belongings.
Can my belongings be saved?
Many of them, yes. We pack out salvageable contents and clean them off-site with ultrasonic baths, deodorizing, and hand cleaning, then track and return everything. We're honest about what can't be saved and document it for your claim.
